The calla lilies are from my garden and placed in a glass vase that creates distortion. My goal for this painting was to make the glass look transparent and the distorted fabric believable. The flowers are sitting on a pieced quilt top.
I enjoy painting the subtle color variations found on the paddles of the prickly pear cactus as well as the dramatic value changes between the light and shadows.
This small study focuses on reflections from the old sauce pan and uses a limited color pallet.
